Imran Khan first pairing with Deepika Padukone in Break Ke Baad is yet to face the acid box office test, but director Homi Adajania is convinced the two are ideally suited for his next film.
Dinesh Vijan - formerly a partner in Saif Ali Khan's production house, Illuminati - will bank roll the new film, a romantic drama, as his maiden production.
Vijan and Adajania feel Imran displays better chemistry with Deepika in Break Ke Baad, as compared to his past leading ladies - Genelia D'Souza in Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na (2008) and Sonam Kapoor in I Hate Luv Storys (2010).
Imran Khan seemingly agrees:
"We both had a lovely time doing Break Ke Baad and I am very happy that we are doing Homi's next." Imran told Mumbai Mirror.
Deepika earlier worked with Vijan in Love Aaj Kal (2009) when he was with Illuminati.
Vijan and Adajania worked together earlier in Adijani's Being Cyrus (2005).
The yet to be titled film is Adajania's second directorial venture.
Deepika recently walked out of Vishal Bhardwaj's Dreams due to date issues. Vishal wants to start production in January 2001, but Deepika's calendar is chock-full till June 2011: January to March 2011 for Rohit Dhawan's Desi Boyz and April to June for Sajid Nadiadwala's Heer Ranjha with co-star Shahid Kapoor.
Before that Deepika had to let go off Bodyguard Remake titled My Love Story, with co-star Salman Khan. She was very keen to work with Khan but she could not commit to 30 days at a stretch due to prior commitments.
Imran Khan is currently filming for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan with co-stars Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar.
He will next work on Karan Johar production, Short Term Shaadi, with co-star Kareena Kapoor. The film will be shot in Las Vegas.
